No Doubt About It, It Is a Small World

A couple weeks ago when we were on our way to Saguaro National Park we had to make a pit stop so Drew could use the bathroom. So Daddy pulled into the gas station and took Drew inside. I waited in the car and was filing my nails. A couple minutes later someone knocked on the car window. Startled, I looked up to see Bill's Aunt Tina, who lives in Wilkes-Barre, PA where Bill is originally from. And then it all came rushing back to me. A couple weeks before Bill's mom had mentioned to me that Aunt Tina and Uncle Chas were driving out to visit their friends in Tucson for a few weeks. With my dad's hospitalization and the craziness of two trips up to Vegas in 2 weeks, it had slipped my mind. So imagine everyone's surprise when Bill and Drew were standing in line for the bathroom and Aunt Tina happened to look over and see them. Yes, they and their friends were on their way to Tombstone and by some massive coincidence happened to stop at the same gas station as us in the same 5 minute window of time. We spent a few minutes catching up and, upon learning they still had a few weeks left of their time in Tucson, made a plan for them to come down to our house for dinner sometime, which ended up being this past Sunday.

Tina & Chas actually arrived a little bit early so while Bill and I were finishing in the kitchen, Drew gave them the tour of his wing of the house. His trains in the guest room, his rubber ducky bathroom, and of course his bedroom. It was really quite adorable. He kept them entertained for a good 15-20 minutes showing off his things and telling them stories. And while we hadn't seen them in quite a while Drew showed no signs of shyness and readily doled out hugs & kisses to them both. He was particularly pleased by his early Easter card from Aunt Tina & Uncle Chas which included a contribution to Drew's piggy bank. When Drew retrieved the bank from his room and showed Uncle Chas all the pennies and bills inside, Uncle Chas emptied his pocket change onto the table to contribute even more. Drew delighted in counting the coins and putting them each inside his piggy bank.

We had a wonderful evening together, exchanging stories, marveling at Drew, and laughing. And we're grateful that the next time we see them will only be a few months away.
