The next day when Grandma picked Drew up from school by herself they headed straight to the store so Grandma could find Drew his belated Valentine's Day present and a St. Patrick's Day gift. When I mentioned this to my sister she claimed she didn't remember such presents existing for us when we were little. My mother claims that her mother and sister always took care of such things for us, so she was now just doing her grandmotherly duty. Drew proudly showed off his new treasures when they returned from Walmart: a new coloring and sticker book and crayons, Don't Break the Ice game, a bubble wand, and an Elmo going to bed book.
Here Drew and Grandma work on coloring.

But Drew decided it was way more fun to have Grandma blow the bubbles so he could chase them

Drew had quite a time with Grandma Carolyn and was sad to see her "have to drive a long way back home." But he perked up when we reminded him that it was only 2 1/2 weeks before Grandma would be back at Easter time, and she'd have Grandpa with her then!
